What is Orthodox Christian Stewardship?

In the Orthodox tradition, stewardship is our joyful, thankful response to God’s love. Grounded in the understanding that everything we have—our lives, skills, and resources—belongs to God, we are called not as owners, but as caretakers of His gifts. Stewardship is an intentional act of worship where we offer our Time, Talent, and Treasure back to God in gratitude, sustaining the life of our parish and serving our broader community.

Giving our Time

Time is a finite, precious gift from God. Offering our time as stewards means intentionally dedicating moments of our daily life to spiritual growth, worship, and service rather than letting time slip away passively.

Giving our Talents

Every person is endowed with unique God-given abilities, vocational skills, and personality traits. Offering our talents means using our natural and developed gifts to build up the Body of Christ and serve the wider community.

Giving our Treasure

Financial giving in the Orthodox tradition is an act of worship and thanksgiving, not a membership fee or dues. Sacrificially returning a portion of our financial blessings to God acknowledges Him as the provider of all we have.
