St. Catherine’s Philoptochos

The board meets every other month 

The General Assembly of all members is six times a year

 

THE MISSION OF OUR ORGANIZATION IS:

 

  1. To help the poor, the destitute, the hungry, the aged, the unemployed, the orphaned, the imprisoned, the widowed, the handicapped, the victims of disasters, to undertake the burial of impoverished persons and to offer assistance to anyone who may need the help of the church.  
  2. To promote the charitable, benevolent and philanthropic purposes of the Greek Orthodox Church of America,
  3. To preserve and perpetuate Orthodox Concepts and the Orthodox family, through faith and traditions, in accordance with its doctrines, canons discipline, divine worship, usages and customs.
  4. To promote participation in the activities of the Greek Orthodox community, with the cooperation of the Parish Priest and the Parish Council.

We are responsible to have fund raisers to help support the following National and Local Philoptochos commitments paid from January to December.

St. Basil Academy, Social Services/Cancer & other Major Illness, Autism Assistance Fund, St. Photios Shrine, Orthodox Christian Mission Center/Support a Mission Priest, Hellenic College/Holy Cross Lenten Event, Sisterhood of St. Basil Academy, International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC), 75th Anniversary Founders Fund, Orthodox Christian Fellowship (OFC),  Hellenic College Holy Cross Scholarship Fund, Retired Clergy & Widowed Presvyteres Benevolent Fund, National Philoptochos Emergency Fund, Ecumenical Patriarchate, National Sisterhood of Presvyteres Benevolent Fund, UNICEF, General Medical Fund,

We have commitments to

 

 Metropolis of Boston Philoptochos

Fellowship of Stewards (FOS),

Philoxenia House,

St. Methodios Faith & Heritage Center

 

We along with other parish members prepare and serve at the Dormition Family Table

We sponsor a child to attend Metropolis Camp

We annually give a gift to our graduating seniors

We provide Greek/English Dictionary to Greek School Graduates

 

We annually give a donation of $500 to or our Fall Food Festival and prepare food and pastry items.

 

We support Operation homecoming, which is a mission to assist homeless veterans in transitioning to independent living.

 

We provide other local assistance  along with charities and events outside or within our church.

We provide gift cards for the needy, Hellenic Nursing Home Fund,

We support Orthodox Church and Prison Ministry.
